San Diego, CA asked in Domestic Violence and Family Law for California

Q: What is necessary to get a restraining order to stop verbal assault and harassment?

I recently moved from New Jersey to California with the last year. Since then I've gotten numerous calls and online threats from my mother who was against my move with my 3 children. My mother has attempted several times to contact my children directly to speak terrible and untrue things about me and has on many occasions called to berate and abuse me over the phone. I've tried ignoring and telling to stop along with blocking numbers and online accounts. These have been met with her using other peoples info to contact me and continue the harassment.

A: more info is needed

you need to retain a lawyer that is in the community in which you live and who will go to the court to file a TRO............

if you can't afford a lawyer legal aid may be able to help you.

absent that you can go to the clerk's window to request assistance and hopefully they will make time to help you
