Tampa, FL asked in Estate Planning for Florida

Q: My grandparents both had legal custody of me, do I have any rights to my grand father?

My grandfather commited suicide this week, he had Alzheimer’s and dementia and ptsd, when I was a juvenile my parents signed all of my parental and legal rights over to both of my grandparents, my grandma passed 3 years ago, they put my grand fathers brother as next of kin because my father was my grandmas son, but since they both had all of my rights, do I have any rights? I’ve lived with them almost my whole life, we have car insurance policy and had a bank account in common, They did not have a will but everyone knows what they wanted except my uncle who is now in charge, what can I do!

A: Are you asking about the right to inherit from your grandfather? His estate goes to his descendants, which would include your uncle and any other of your grandfather's children, as well as to his grandchildren.
