Q: My previous employer is denying me to give experience letter.

I worked in a company for nearly 1 year. I found out a lot of politics going on in the company and few people were against me, I was not happy in the company. So I told my manager that I am going to put paper. He told me to wait. I did not listen and I put my paper. i legally served 2 months of notice period. Then I joined another company. Now when I am asking them my experience letter, they are not giving it saying, "client has given some negative feedback and we will not give you experience letter". When I asked about the evidences for which client has given me negative feedback, they are sharing the evidences. They are telling me to apologize for the mistakes I never committed. My question is ,"Is it legally correct that they can deny me experience letter, saying client has given some negative feedback against you?" And what can I do to get the experience letter?
