Q: Cancel accepted home purchase offer
I live in Florida and signed an electronic offer to purchase a house in Ohio. I was informed via text from my Ohio buyer's agent that it was accepted. That was yesterday, tomorrow I fly up to look at the property. If I am unhappy with it can I legally back out? My broker said that I have to pay the earnest money tomorrow. Since no money has changed hands can I say no?
A: If your contract has an inspection contingency, then if the house is not satisfactory, follow the steps in the contract to terminate it by giving seller proper written notice.
