Me and my girlfriend brought a house together 17 years ago we both signed to pay the Mortage on the
house. she has now left and moving up north is she still legible to pay half of the mortage payment as I am
A: Probably. However, it also depends on whether or not both of your names are on the deed to the house, and if both your names are on the mortgage. It is pretty hard to get your name off of a mortgage agreement. If your girlfriend has left for good, then she may feel that she is not obligated on the mortgage any more. If both of you paid an equal amount down to buy the house, and both of you made payments on the house for 17 years, then she would be entitled to some equity in the house for her share. Perhaps you can work this out with the girlfriend. I would check out the recorded title on the house. Good Luck.
