Cleveland, OH asked in Car Accidents for Ohio

Q: I hit the curb in a building and damaged some parts of it. The landlord is asking for a lot of money. What do I do?

The curb was hit while I was exiting the premises and some structural damage occurred. The Landlord requested a huge sum of money for repair and has involved the cops . They want me to come in and give a statement. How should go about handling this?

A: Notify your insurance company. They will fight the claim, if the amount requested is unreasonable. You should also consider hiring an attorney yourself.

A: If cops are involved you need to know why--unless this is a hit and run. If it is the penalties can be serious and I advise at least getting a consult with an attorney who handles those type of cases in your county.

Not sure what the astronomical is--you can have someone else spec it out, but what makes sense is to turn it over to your insurance and let them look at it.
