Asked in Immigration Law for Washington

Q: Should i pay NVC to continue to interview or change a lawyer?

In 2011, I got a lifetime ban due to misrepresentation Section 212(a)(6)(C)(i). My mom who is a US citizen hire a lawyer to solve my problem. after 7 years her lawyer said we need to pay NVC and after I do a medical exam. I searched the internet and found that my case needs to do a waiver. I don't know much about immigration law. I'm afraid that pay those services (NVC, medical exam, lawyer) and the consulate give me the refusal letter the as Section 212(a)(6)(C)(i). should I hire a new lawyer do a waiver for me or I continue with my current lawyer?

A: You will most likely need the waiver. If you want to immigrate to the United States, your next step is paying the visa fees to the National Visa Center. You will complete the visa application, and you will need to have a medical exam, too. Once you have gone to the interview, the officer will determine if you need the waiver. If you do, you will want to make sure you have an attorney who is very good with waivers.

There are no guarantees that you will get a waiver; however, having an attorney who is experienced in waivers will increase your chances of getting one.
