Q: I had a child support hearing last Friday, and was rewarded a reduction in child support. I haven't gotten the reduction

How long does it typically take to get the reduction?

A: Contact your local Domestic Relations section and ask. But if you're having child support taken directly out of your paycheck (like most payors do), you can give a copy of the new support order to your employer directly. Presumably they'll start deducting the corrected amount immediately.

Best of luck to you.

A: It depends on when the new wage attachment order went out and at what point in your payroll period it gets to your employer. If you want to show the employer your new order you can but I would imagine hat they have the new wage attachment order by now. You can take solace in the fact that, if the higher amount is taken out after the new order was effective, the excess amount will be used to reduce any arrears there are on the record. If there are no arrears, then should automatically send it back to you.
