Asked in Animal / Dog Law for Louisiana

Q: Given a dog who was malnourished. we've had for over 30days. they want her back now Do i have any right to keep her?

We do have pictures of her being so under weight. We did not have a verbal or written agreement and there was no sale of dog they just gave her too us bc they 'couldnt take care of her anymore'. She was severly mistreated. She has been on my property and i have paid all expenses for over 30 days now. What do i do when she knocks on my door and wants this dog back?

A: Refuse. Tell her see you in court. Your vet bills are proof she was a gift. Tell former owner if they make a stink, then you will file a criminal complaint of animal cruelty.
