Buford, GA asked in Family Law and Divorce for Georgia

Q: I have to pay ex wife a lump sum alimony in payments over the course of 10 years. The first year I pay $350 every month

And after the first year alimony payments go up in price every year after that. Can I stop paying the lump sum alimony if she gets remarried?

A: No. Lump sum alimony is treated more like property division than periodic alimony. This cannot be modified and you need to treat this like you would the payment of a debt.

A: No, even if she gets remarried you will not be able to stop the payments. -Homer P. Jordan IV, Esq. 404-620-1558 HomerJordan.com
