Q: What can I do about failure to return deposit/itemized deduction list?
Our lease ran out on 6/1/2018, however we vacated 5/1/18 and turned keys over (we paid Mays rent). The landlord said that we wouldnt be receiving our deposit back due to condition of carpet (even though there was prior animal damage to us moving in.) he state our lease put us on full responsibility for the carpet. We didn’t want to deal with it and said whatever, and he said he would be sending us itemized list of charges. We haven’t received anything as of today and the place has already been rented out. What can/should we do?
