Q: Can I claim back 18 years’ worth of tax? Is by law all my driving while in the company car company business?

I have paid tax on the private use of a company car and fuel benefit for the last 18 years as I believed I was never on company business and always on private use as I am taxed as such by HMRC. My company is now stating the following “when a company car is provided to any employee, as the car is insured by the Company for all use, and the Company expects all drivers of company cars to abide by the law and company policy. Any driving using a company vehicle is on company business in that sense. HMRC interpretation of private mileage is a separate matter altogether for tax purposes” I am asking this question as my company has just, after 24 years of service with zero marks on my record prosecuted me for Gross Misconduct for abuse of the company car policy (I was caught speeding) even though I have only ever used the car and been taxed on the car as private use. I have also just informed the company that I have degenerative spinal I believe they are trying to bully me out of my job
