Q: Construction Contracts

I did a roof for a client and he had changed what underlayment he wanted.

My guys put the old scope of work into formens scope and the first half of the roof didn't get the underlayment. I caught it when I stopped by and the second half did. the owner was notified and new. He and I agreed to new amount of dollars and I gave him final invoice and release of lean in that amount and he wrote check in that new amount.

Well 2 days later he put stop payment on check and it's cleared my bank and now it could get reversed .

This is in florida . i have signed contract and permits that passed all inspections.

what's a good plan for this??

A: I'm not sure what you mean by "formens scope", or "and new", but first, you should find out from the owner why he stopped payment on the check. If he wrote the check after being notified that half of the underlayment was not done according to the change order, it appears that he agreed to the work as done. If his explanation does not make sense, or if he doesn't explain, you may have to consider filing suit.
