Jerseyville, IL asked in Traffic Tickets and Car Accidents for Illinois

Q: Got supervision for failing to slow accident earlier this yr. Just got a ticket 28 over. Will I get my L revoked? I’m 16

I’m 16 years old and I got a moving traffic ticket for failing to decrease speed earlier this year. It’s been about 4 months since that accident. Today I was pulled over for going 28 mph over the speed limit. I got supervision for the first ticket and I served the full supervision. I’m going to court on September 11th this year and I’m wondering if there’s any chance of my liscense being revoked and if I need a lawyer.

A: Yes, you absolutely need a lawyer. You have been charged with a Class B Misdemeanor, which is punishable by up to 6 months in jail and up to $1,500.00 in fines not including mandatory fees and costs. This is not just a simple speeding ticket. This is a criminal offense and a conviction for such an offense will show up on background checks and cause you issues with education and employment down the road. DO NOT mess around, have your parents hire an attorney for you right now. The sooner the better.
