Saint Marys, GA asked in Divorce for Georgia

Q: I was granted a final divorce a few weeks ago. All that was left was for us to work out the proper exchange of funds.

My lawyer sent an email last Friday to the judge saying we did not agree with opposing counsels math. Sadly, my lawyer died Monday evening. Since her passing, I have been unable to get any help with how to proceed from local lawyers, the court house, or the BAR Association.

A: I'm sorry this has happened to you. You will have to hire a new attorney to finalize the case. The new attorney would have to review the full file, as well as the emails in order to help.

A: That's terrible. I wish there was more I could tell you other than to keep looking for counsel. If you need to go out of the area, you might try Waycross or even Savannah. Good luck to you.
