Watsonville, CA asked in Car Accidents for California

Q: If your client was in a car accident what exactly is the lawyer in charge of and what are their responsibilities?

Does the client have to do anything that requires them to go to different places, investigating and talking to different people to attain their information about the accident or anything of that sort? If they do why aren't they given the information that is required and requested from the lawyer to give for the case. This client was the victim and has to pay for the physical therapy along with the car which makes no sense. The vehicle was a total loss, multiple injuries and yet this case is easily resolved from the physical evidence so why has this case been open for more than 8 months. Thank You for your time.

A: More info needed

Since the client is responsible for costs

This will save hiring an investigator.

U can always change lawyers without it costing u anything

A: Clients may or may not be asked to assist in gathering information. Each case is different. An attorney can perform all of the investigative functions by hiring a private investigator, who will be paid out of the proceeds of the case, resulting in you getting less money in your pocket at the end. Your attorney is probably attempting to save you money to maximize your payday. Cases frequently take more than 8 months. Sometimes they take years. You sound like a difficult client. I would suggest a calm discussion with your attorney instead of hitting up random lawyers on the internet.
