Buzzards Bay, MA asked in Child Custody for Massachusetts

Q: my spouse and I are splitting and he thinks he will get custody of our son.

I have 2 other children from a previous relationship. I am in no way an unfit mother. My spouse is a narcissistic person. I have endured years of mental demeaning abuse from him, and a few years ago I started standing up for myself. Now he isn't sure we should be together any longer because of all the hurt I have caused him. i believe he is having an affair. But i cant prove it. I need help to ensure that the custody of my son remains with me.

Right now we live in Bourne, MA. My entire support system is on the North shore so I would want to move back this way, and he said I need permission to do that.

What are my next steps?

A: While technically this is not a removal from the jurisdiction, it is likely more than 50 miles, correct? So the best process would be to discuss this with a divorce attorney who can raise the issues appropriately for you when he or she is in possession of all of the facts.
