Q: My husband bought a house under his own name. He's transfering the title to his mistress without my consent.
She's been living rent free in the house for many years. He's considering a rent to own sitaution (because she can't afford house), and may then add her name to deed. What are my options? He's going to go behind my back and do this.
A: If HE BOUGHT THE HOUSE WHILE YOU WERE MARRIED TO HIM, THEN TRCHNICALLY, UBDER CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY PROPERTY LAW, YOU OWN HALF OF THAT HOUSE, BARRING CERTAIN EXCEPTONS. IN ORDER TO PROTECT YOUR RIGHTS, YOU SHOULD RETAIN A FAMILY LAW LAWYER ASAP.
