Gurnee, IL asked in DUI / DWI for Illinois

Q: If I go to trial instead of pleading guilty for a DUI of alcohol charge, what is the range in price?

No accident. While driving home from the store, I got light headed and pulled over. Then passed out. I was taken to hospital ER where blood was taken as part of their procedure. The result was given to the police. It read 0.30.This number is absolutely wrong. There is much more info, obviously.I want to contest the 0.30 reading.I am not a drinker.Have been driving for 55 years with no accident record and never stopped for DUI.I am not happy with the current attorney. He's been continuing my case since early this year.He wants $10,000 up front to cover expert testimony, other attorneys, etc. He won't offer any details about the defense.I just want to know if I am not taken advantage of. I am 71 years old with limited funds. So, is $10,000 out of the ordinary or not?

A: Expert witnesses are very expensive. It is not uncommon they charge thousands of dollars because they are rare given the many years of education and many more years of experience in their field of expertise.
