Q: My husband passed away and he had life insurance.Can child to get a part of incurance?
My husband put in insurance his brother name and it was before when we were married.My husband couldn't put my name because I was waiting green card And now his brother just forgot about us and he doesn't want give money for child.I understand it's legal because his name in life insurance but it not fair for child.Daughter was born after when father passed away and she is never see him.What Can I do for her I don't know.
A: If the life insurance had the brother named as beneficiary, you and your daughter would not be entitled to the insurance proceeds. Your daughter's uncle has no duty to support her.
