Raleigh, NC asked in Traffic Tickets for North Carolina

Q: 18 yr old with no previous ticket... received a ticket going 71 in a 55 zone... would I need an attorney for this?

A: Need is often a subjective term. No, you likely don't 'need' an attorney but it would be a really, really good idea. If your address is correct on the ticket, you will likely get a crap ton of letters from traffic attorneys. You definitely don't need F. Lee Bailey for a mere 71/55 so just pick the cheapest one and roll with that.

A: Consult with a NC lawyer who can advise you better but I took a phone call yesterday from a NC individual who wanted to reopen a case, 73 mph in a 60 where his insurance went up $70 per MONTH. So call a NC lawyer as you would not want that. Not sure if that would happen to you or not but insurance increases for speeding tickets are common and a NC lawyer may be able to get it reduced for you.
