San Francisco, CA asked in Civil Rights, Constitutional Law, Domestic Violence and Landlord - Tenant for California

Q: Housemates that are confrontational and create a hostile environment cannot be stopped with laws to protect you from it

I pay my rent to live in a room with my 4year old son share a bathroom and kitchen with other people who have made it completely unbearable to cross their paths, and out of fear of being screamed at for reasons I cannot avoid so that my son doesnt have to see it happen again, I avoid even being there. Calling the cops will likely cause more grief or backfire in my face in the future if I was able to get a peace order against them, because no one wants someone who cant "get along" with others or with "problems" on paper around, despite it being due to a self righteous "alliance" against me in an attempt to force me out of where i live before i can find somewhere else to live that I can afford, I am a single mother and BARELY scraping by. If this a happened in a romantic relationship in front of my son, CPS would be all over it. There must be something I can do before I end up homeless sleeping in my car with my son??

A: i am a criminal/accident lawyer and this is not my area of law.

you probably have to pose this quasi family law question to a lawyer that deals with these issues.

it sounds like a terrible situation..........you can't sit down and try to work this out?

A: What you can do is see a social worker in the San Francisco City and County offices. Go to their website at: https://www.sfhsa.org/

Copy and paste this into your browser, and look for the services most likely to give you assistance. Call some of the numbers available, and ask questions about how to deal with your living situation, and how hard it is for you and your child where you are. Perhaps it might even be good to go to one of their locations and ask for help.

The City and County of San Francisco are all about providing assistance to people just like you. Try not to get too frustrated at home, you have the right to the use of the premises you are paying you, and you and your child do not have to live in a hostile environment.

Best of luck to you.
