Q: Hey I had a car accident and I give the person my info and went home and changed my plates and put some old plates on

and got a ticket for close distance And wrote the old plates down on the ticket and I had my court and paid for the ticket and they said they wanted prove of insurance that they will send the information to my address but never got it but the person old plates got the information but in his name what will happen now ??

A: Eventually, they will probably figure out that you did these things and file criminal charges against you.

A: You could be in trouble either way. I'm getting the idea you had no insurance on the car you were driving. Insurance follows the vehicle using the VIN number, not the plate. At some point your insurance will call you. If you don't tell them the truth then you get dropped and a possible criminal referral.

If however you were confused--as it looks like you were--you pay the other persons damage, then you may be OK. But changing plates is getting yourself twice the problem.
