New Orleans, LA asked in Child Custody and Family Law for Louisiana

Q: I was awarded emergency custody of my severely autistic non verbal daughter after drug test results were positive for

Meth. Eventually sole custody after OCS was called by Drs as my child suffered hearing loss while in her mothers care. I wasn’t allowed to see my child 6 months prior to this, up until I hired lawyer. My ex wife turned and called OCS on me giving false accusations. I was in New Orleans @ children’s hospital with my child getting tests ran. As we walked out I got a call from OCS in Vermillion parish to go take a drug test then afterwards go to OCS office. The OCS worker interrogated me going off of false accusations. Long story short, my attorney at the time gave facts and charges were dropped on him and validated against her. The problem we’ve been having is the TOWN! The maternal grandmother runs a “non profit” organization for children. Public servant of the parish just won citizen of the town. Yet, her granddaughter was and still is being neglected with her being the supervisor of visitations. My child doesn’t have a fair chance. Any suggestions?

A: If she's not effectively supervising the visitations, you should seek to have someone besides the grandmother appointed to supervise them. Speak with your lawyer about your concerns.

A: Move to a parish where your ex doesn't have any pull. But keep your lawyer who sounds like she's doing a good job.
