Q: My x-husband has been in hiding since Katrina, my son is now 25, back child support is over $30,000.
He lives in Mississippi and the case is there also...Child Support Office informed me they closed the case when they were unable to locate him...he was living about 30 miles from their office in Hernando, MS. He is now actively working in the casino industry again...how he was able to secure a gaming license is questionable. I was informed by them that there was nothing that could be done since my son is over 21.
A: You have to hire a private child support lawyer who can file suit in LA and get him served by long arm at work. Once you have a judgment, you can garnish his wages and put a lien on any property.
