Q: My husband (Ohio resident) & I are separated & during his employer's open enrollment for health insurance, he dropped me

I'm on disability. Can he drop me from his insurance during open enrollment? And what about outstanding medical bills I have. Is he responsible for them? We've been separated for 16 years, married for 18 years. Never got a penny from him. If we divorce, is there still a chance of spousal support? I've been homeless & have an apt now but am struggling to pay everything. I live in FL he lives in Ohio... Married in mahoning county ohio. I need ohio law

A: If you are still married, his employer would typically require you to sign to change the health insurance, or you could have rights under COBRA. With so long a separation, spousal support is unlikely, but possible. It depends on all the facts. Use the Find a Lawyer tab to retain a local divorce attorney to review all the facts of your situation and advise you.
