Indian Trail, NC asked in Traffic Tickets for North Carolina

Q: Is it legal to drive straight through an intersection if you are in a lane marked with an arrow that points only left?

Is it legal for a person to be in a lane marked with an arrow only pointing left, to continue straight through the intersection and into another left turn lane? OR are the supposed to turn at the first intersection after they get in the turn lane?

A: No, of course not. Unless there has been a DOT mistake, if it is possible / legal to go straight, there will be a separate lane(s) for that or the lane will be marked with an arrow going straight combined with a left turn arrow. If the lane is marked only with an arrow for a left turn and you go straight from that lane, you have likely committed several infractions and possibly some criminal traffic violations. Improper lane use is likely. Maybe unsafe movement. Possibly careless and reckless.
