Houston, TX asked in Criminal Law for Texas

Q: who can’t be around children

In the state of Texas if a minor is killed by mistake due to a stray bullet in the midst of gang violence or other violence and a person is convicted and sentenced to a lengthy prison term , if said individual eventually makes parole are there rules prohibiting them from being in places where children are like schools etc . Or is it only sex offenders who cannot be near children after release ? Basically what I’m asking is if someone isn’t allowed near children is it definitely due to a sex crime or could it be something else like child endangerment or death of a child by mistake such as the situation I mentioned involving a stray bullet

A: I believe that is a true statement, only sex crimes or otherwise ordered to stay away from children. If it is not pointed out in his parole documents then there does not appear to be restrictions.
