Miami, FL asked in Family Law and Child Support for Florida

Q: For income verification in my case, do I calculate my average weekly pay since my hours change from week to week?

I am the mother in the case and I have been caring for my daughter alone since she was born. The baby’s father has given me about $200 randomly the few times we have seen him in four months. I received financial assistance while pregnant and on un-paid maternity leave and now there is a child support case open. I am finally back at work full time this week, but have been doing only about 20 hours from home up until now and my job closes for the holidays and I don’t get paid 40 hours every week this month either. I am being asked for my present monthly income. Do I average what I made in the last month? Please let me know. Thank you !!!

A: Average your income over as long a period of time that you can but do not include the time that you were not working. If you know that you will go back to 40 hours in January then you need to tell that to the court.
