Q: can your boss shut off your water and. electricity and laid you off worked.

I worked as Inkeeper for more than 5 years and we have a new management and the way she was runing the place was wrong and she was taken things from the hotel and I let the owner know what was going on and suddenly she laid me off. And told me I could still lived in the building and exchanged cleaning up the place. but she shut of water and electricity.

A: No. The manager cannot legally do that to you. You should talk to a competent employment lawyer as soon as you can. And you should file a claim with the California Department of Employment and Housing (DFEH) immediately. Plus you can go to the Labor Commissioner's website (https://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/) to file a claim there as well. Act promptly to protect your rights!
