Kansas City, MO asked in Traffic Tickets for Missouri

Q: Coasting down a hill and got to 27 over the limit. Didnt hit brake or gas. What's the worst and best case scenario?

I'm not an adult (junior in highschool) had liscence, insurance and have never had any type of infraction on my record. Completely clean. I'm just a bit worried as to what could happen because I got a court date rather than just a fine.

A: At age 17, you are an adult for court purposes.

The outcome of your case depends a lot on which court your case is being prosecuted in. Some prosecutors and judges are more lenient than others. You (or your parents) will need to hire an experienced criminal defense/traffic law attorney to represent you if you want to avoid a conviction and points on your driving record, and an increase in your car insurance rates.

In some courts, a ticket for 27 miles over the speed limit can be amended to Illegal Parking or Littering, while in other courts, the judge will require you to be on probation.
