King Of Prussia, PA asked in Consumer Law, Personal Injury, Legal Malpractice and Medical Malpractice

Q: I recently was denied treatment at Merakey in Lansdale after following appropriate protocol. Is there anything I can do?

I was a past client and my folder was closed on 12/14/19. Their protocol is 30 days before you are allowed to open a new file. They said I am indefinitely allowed to come back so to what I feel are bias and discriminatory reasons. I would like to fie a suit against them. This is not the first event concerning their practice that has been a red flag referring to malpractice. Is there something I can do in the meantime to get the ball rolling while I seek treatment elsewhere ?

A: A doctor cannot be compelled to treat a patient. They can't abandon them, but if you and the practice had parted ways they aren't required to take you back. Rather than focus your energies on them, take care of you. Down the road you can file a complaint against them with the board that accredits them etc. But if you don't have a provider you don't want to get a reputation as a "problem patient" or you will find you won't get an appointment until 2023, at the earliest.

Sorry, but medical care is a lot like the company town. (its more complicated but bottom line--while it's fresh on your memory write down what happened when, so if you do decide to file a complaint later you have the facts. But focus on getting a doctor that wants to see you. By the way, avoid getting into it on social media etc. That can give rise to slander or libel issues. )
