A: A holographic or handwritten will is valid in North Carolina. All that is required is that the testator be at least 18 and of sound mind and that the will be entirely handwritten and signed by the testator - no witnesses or notary are required (but they are recommended). It is not recommended that you do a will this way as it is just an complete invitation for disaster but it is allowed by state law.
