I need advice please quick and where can I find this information to take with me to prove my findings.....The county I live in states the landlord must keep the water in her name but I am liable..she just purchased the home and we are the first to rent it. The previous owner had a bill that wasnt paid when our water was shut off i went to the water office and they said she must come in with document's to prove she purchased the property and she must sign some type of form to allow the bill to be in her name and mailed to us and we can pay it...I paid 500 on Jan 28th and the water is still off.. I've paid no rent since then...what are my legal rights? I'm getting scared she is going to show up and throw us out...can you please help me?

A: Landlord would have to follow the normal eviction process and cannot legally throw you out. If landlord shows up and attempts that, call the police. But if you don't pay rent, landlord could start the eviction process, but that takes weeks. You can deposit your rent into escrow with the local court. Check the court web site for the escrow process. Use the Find a Lawyer tab to retain an attorney to communicate to landlord to advise legal action will be taken if water not turned on immediately.
