Los Alamitos, CA asked in Animal / Dog Law for California

Q: Orange county California. Neighbor walks their dog on 30' leash and he urinates on flowed near front door! Is that ok?

I would think a dog is only allowed so far on a private property or is it just no class by the owner? ( I own a Dane and putty, neither are allowed on private lawns. Parkway only.

A: Sounds like trespassing and a leash law violation. Los Alamitos Municipal Code § 6.16.100 requires that dog owners keep their dog on a leash when on any public street, park, or other public place. The leash cannot be more than eight-feet long and must be held continuously in the hands of a person capable of controlling the dog.

You might consider nicely asking him to curb his dog. If that doesn't work get some video and pictures and call the police.
