Santa Paula, CA asked in Criminal Law for California

Q: My friend is being charged for a crime they did not commit. I committed it. How do I accept charges for the crime?

They are being accused of possessing drugs in a vehicle that I left in the vehicle. I had just gotten dropped off by the vehicle and I left the drug in the vehicle. The police pulled the vehicle over and found the drugs I dropped. How do I go about accepting the charges for my friend because the drugs were mine. And will a court of law dismiss my friends charges and instead charge me for the drugs being mine if I were to admit to that in a court of law?

A: More info is needed to properly evaluate your case.

However, it is always a good idea to contact a local attorney that handles these cases in the courthouse to which you are ordered to appear.

In other words, I am in Palm Springs and you don’t want to hire a Palm Springs lawyer for an Orange Co case.

Most criminal and accident lawyers will offer a free consultation to review the facts.

The case will depend on how the evidence was obtained and the details regarding the stop and arrest, as well as a review of the facts of your case.

Call a local attorney to discuss this matter in more detail and request an appointment.

Don't discuss your matter on a platform like this as what you say can be used against you.

Please understand your friend is being charged with possession, not ownership. if it is in his car, he is presumed to know about it and possess it. They will assume you are trying to protect him and "ride the beef"
