Q: Purchased property "As is" from development company. Now man that sold to them wants property he left
He sold the property to the development company in 2018, left all kinds of things behind. Developer did nothing with the property and sold to us Cash As is. Prior owner now insisting he has right to take things which were actually things that weighed into our decision to buy. Can he do this? Nothing in our purchase was agreed upon between us and this man.
A: You probably have no legal obligation to him if you had no knowledge of the ownership of the things he left behind. It is between him and the company to whom he sold the property. But if he files a lawsuit and names you as a defendant, then you should obtain an attorney to represent you.
