Madison, WI asked in Traffic Tickets for Illinois

Q: I was pulled over by a cop in Carthage Illinois. I have an Iowa drivers license that was suspended In Illinois reg car

My gf car was registered in Illinois with Illinois plates. I did not know I had suspended license until informed by cop. After he ran my name. Reason for the stop is He said I turned into oncoming traffic which is why he stopped me. I did not receive a ticket for it. Was my stop illegal? I received ticket for suspended license but not for the initial traffic violation? If I would have ran a red light wouldn't I have recieved a ticket for that also? They did an inventory search he did not ask me he just said he’s going to do it. I have no priors and never been to jail I do have 3 speeding tickets. Again it’s my girlfriend car registered in Illinois I was alone. I’m from Iowa with Iowa drivers license. Again I had no idea I had a suspended license. I was released on bail I only received one ticket suspended license. Nothing about initial traffic violation. I plan on retaining a lawyer awaiting court date. Please help Thank you

A: It is not uncommon for the police not to give you a ticket for the reason of the stop when a more serious ticket is issued. You need to clear your license in Illinois and hire an attorney to assist you with this matter. The sooner you hire an attorney the better.
