Sonora, CA asked in Criminal Law for California

Q: Do I need to get a different attorney? If so how since my next court date is May 28th? Thanks

I have never even had a traffic ticket. I now am looking at a plea deal. I just received the police report after the arraignment and pretrail have occurred. The plea deal has been on the table since February. I’ts been 8 months since my arrest but wasn’t formally charged until April. Am I wrong? This doesn’t make sense to me .My lawyer has told me not to attend either appearance as well as the next. I have never had even a traffic ticket so I just assumed.. Am I screwed!?

A: more info needed.

no idea what charge is but DA has 1 yr to file a misdemeanor and 3 for a felony.

it is not your lawyer's fault if the case is not filed timely........often it is the best thing that can happen to a case.

listen to your attorney
