Q: Hello - I was drunk at a bar in New Jersey and got a 91-2M code offense and a 2c332a code offense. Do I need a lawyer?

Kicked out for being drunk and was loud

A: Put it this way the 2C:33-2A is an offense which will give you the chance of jail, probation and a fine. If you make less than 125% of the poverty level even the judge will appoint you a lawyer called a public defender and this is because it is a petty disorderly offense and as I said you can be sentenced to up to 30 days in jail, probation and up to a $500.00 fine. Although not considered a crime in NJ it will still go on your criminal record both for the arrest and or conviction and will come up on criminal record searches so it would definitely hurt you for any future job prospects. A good lawyer can definitely help your reduce or eliminate these penalties, but just like anything else in life, a good lawyer is expensive. That being said most of us criminal lawyers offer a free in office consultation, I would suggest that you call one of us and set one up.
