Los Angeles, CA asked in Elder Law for Texas

Q: My sister is only interested in my dad’s lawsuit, wont visit him or give him status

I have spent more than 50% of the last year helping my parents I live in CA they live in Tx. Its been exhausting. My younger sis lives 3 hrs away has visited couple hrs last year. Dad has lasbestos lawsuit going. She had originally called the attorney. My dad and I called to get updatessince it’s been over a year. They dont return our calls, just call her. She acts like it’s her deal and none of our business. He just told me she had an acquantance of his recently go into rehab and literally take his hand and sign documents. He was heavily medicated and has no idea what documents were. I’ve discovered she’s been telling lies about me and even filed a false report with aps. I thought it would be easy to explain that it’s all lies I have witnesses, but it seems APS has a preconcevived idea of the situation. I have had little contact with her in the last 10 years and Now she is trying to discredit me. I don’t know know what her intentions so Where do I start?

A: If your father is the client, his lawyer should not be speaking with anyone but him about it without his prior written permission. Your father should shut the spigot.
