Sacramento, CA asked in Health Care Law and Medical Malpractice for California

Q: Can I sue?

So I had a bowel obstruction in my last month of pregnancy. This happened a year ago. I went to the emergency room multiple times and saw multiple different doctors who all thought I was lieing about not going to the bathroom for 3 weeks. I told them I cant go on my own but every time it was diagnosed as constipation and I was given a prescription for a different laxative every time. No matter how much i cried and argued nobody preformed an x ray that i begged for over and over to 3 different emergency room staffs. Finally I went to uc Davis and asked for an xray in which they obliged and lone behind I needed surgery because it was impossible to manually remove the stuff. This all happened while I was 8 months pregnant and in the span of a month. I was crying myself to sleep every night I was in complete agony over the pain I was seeing. Is there any legal actions I can take against the wrongful doctors who didnt listen to me?

A: I'm sorry for your ordeal. It's likely that a California medical malpractice attorney would want to retrieve and review your medical records in detail. Since many offer free initial consultations, you could contact a law office to discuss the matter further. You would need to discuss payment arrangements individually with the firm, but most practitioners in this area work on a contingency basis, meaning that their fees depend on achieving a favorable legal outcome for you. Good luck
