Newport Beach, CA asked in Civil Rights and Constitutional Law for California

Q: What are my constitutional rights not to appear for deposition after receiving "ORDER" in form of deposition subpoena

Hello,

I received deposition subpoenas with ORDER to appear.

For last 26 months, I am leasing apartment that before I moved in was empty for 4 months.

Previous tenant is suing my landlord.

Previous tenant's attorney is dragging me in to this mess. I do not know previous tenant. I have no wishes to take a day off my work, or vacation or away from my family just to help some stranger who ORDERED me to do so with the threat of punishment.

This is infringement on my free will.

I have not done anything wrong to anyone.

I should be free to live my life free without being forced to be good citizen.

I chose to be mediocre citizen.

My right to leave, liberty and pursue of happiness is violated.

Can I legally not appear for this deposition?

A: Irrespective of anything else, the right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness is in the Declaration of Independence, a non binding document, and not in the Constitution
