Findlay, OH asked in Child Support for Ohio

Q: If the mother has a higher income, can she be required to pay support to the father?

My daughter's father and I separated 3 months ago, never married. We are both residents of Hancock County Ohio. At this point, I try to let her see him as much as possible. However, he has not helped pay for anything other than half of the child care cost, usually about $40 a week. This has stopped as well due to me not having to work in the summer. He was providing insurance on her until he lost his job almost a month ago. He is currently living with his mother, and currently not paying any bills.

A: Support can go either way mom to dad or dad to mom and depends on two things: who makes how much and with whom the children reside. If they aren’t living with him and he isn’t paying any of their expenses, he’s not entitled to support.
