Sacramento, CA asked in Criminal Law, Federal Crimes and Probate for California

Q: What am I supposed to do if my boyfriend had nudes of a past girlfriend that was the SAME AGE as him and now has court?

My boyfriend who is 15 had received some sexual pictures from his previous girlfriend. Although, she's the same age and it was not forced to be sent to him. He saved the images in Dropbox instead of his normal gallery. The company realized she was underaged and contacted police. He now has to go to court on the 13th and can possibly get maximum time locked up for this. The crime happened about 5-9 months ago. I'm not sure exactly when. I just think that this is really unfair because she isn't 4. She isn't a toddler. She was the same age as him. Same age. 15. I have no idea what to do because I think it's more about ethics rather than legality.

A: Unless you have the funds to hire a lawyer, I do not see anything you can do for him.

A general problem in computer crimes is proving who placed the item there. Generally, it a situation like his unless there is a witness to the cat or a confession either to the police or a person who testifies, the case cannot be proven.

Therefore, it would be wise for both you and he to stop talking until you both speak to a lawyer.

Most likely, he will be appointed a public defender when he goes to court
