Grand Island, NE asked in Child Support for Nebraska

Q: Is there legal recourse against DHHS for none payment of child support funds

I just received my pay history for my children's father's child support payments. And theres thousands of dollars that they have paid that I never received. I had AdC maybe 9 months total over the last 11 years and it's been paid back so I should be receiving the money. The us bank says they can't give me statements older the 24 months to prove that I never received the payments. What shod I do to get the money that's owed to me? I have tried to research and can find no information.

A: The Nebraska Child Support Payment Center keeps records of payouts to payees in their "payee ledger." I'm not sure how far back they go but I know they go back at least a number of years. This payee ledger shows what payments have been sent out to the payee over time, the amounts sent, the date issued for each amount, the collection ID, among other information. I assume the payment center will be able to provide you this information. I know attorneys can access this information with an online login. The payment center also has information as to what months the child support assigned to the State due to the payee receiving an ADC grant in those months. There are also times when the payment history report shows amounts paid but the payee has not received the funds. This happens when the payment center is holding funds for someone as they don't have a confirmed place to send the funds. For example, the bank would not accept a payment and the payee needs to provide new account info or apply for a new reliacard.
