Q: If a business states they will give a refund, then refuse, can I take them to small claims court?
I paid registration fees to an event services business to attend several events they were hosting. I am unable to attend these events and and I notified them months in advance. I did sign a contract that stated registration fees are non-refundable, however I had an option to find another vendor to take my place. The Owner informed me that she had another vendor interested in taking my place and when that vendor’s payment was received, she would refund my money. That was June 10 and I have yet to receive anything. She will no longer respond to my attempts at communication either.

A: Perhaps. But you may not be able to sue them in the small claims court where you live.
