Asked in Medical Malpractice

Q: What to do if spine surgery went wrong? The screw was placed right through the channel were the nerv is!

I went to a specialist in Austria who took a CT. Turned out the doctor here in Mexiko put the screw in the wrong place. I woke up with severe pain in my left leg (whereas before the surgery it was the right leg that was painful). One doctor told me that it is normal and I got an injection. After the surgery I thought I have problems with my veins. This is why I consulted with a specialist in Austria before checking my spine. I will need another surgery to replace the screws...

Thank's so much for your advice

A: I'm sorry for your ordeal. This is going to be a complex case, both in terms of its subject matter and its jurisdictional issues. It isn't something on which an attorney would be able to advise in a meaningful manner based on these facts alone. As a starting point, you could contact an attorney for a consultation; most med mal attorneys offer free initial consultations. If an attorney expresses an interest in the case, they would likely request your examination records, surgery records, diagnostic imaging studies from the various doctors and review them with a medical professional. Good luck
