A: More needs to be known, but the general rule is that you are considered to be employed at will unless you have an agreement to the contrary with your employer about that status. The employer of an at will employee can change the terms and conditions of your employment at any time and for any reason or even no reason at all. The change is effective upon notice to the employee of the change.

If you were promised a certain rate of pay, that is the rate you should have been paid until you received notice of a change of that rate. Presumably your first paycheck would have given you notice of the difference, so from that point forward the new rate would apply. Therefore you likely have a claim for the higher rate of pay for the pay period prior to your receipt of your first paycheck.

Good luck to you.
