Maineville, OH asked in Landlord - Tenant and Small Claims for Ohio

Q: Can we be compensated for/ or not be responsible to pay the full amount of rent?

Broken wire underground. Electric company informed us that it was the responsibility of the owner of the trailer park. They were told to get a certified electrician to come here and fix it. Instead, they had their maintinence people fix it and it took 17 days for them to get it approved and turned back on. We had to run a generator that cost $25-$35 a day to run part of the day and night to keep our food from spoiling and our trailer to be tolerable to live. I have an 8 year old daughter and my husband has Heart failure with reduced left ventricular function and Chronic systolic heart failure. Power was off through 1/2 our trailer on the 19th of July. Duke came Saturday July 20 and turned it all off. It was turned back on August 5 at 5pm. We asked to take $20 for 17 days off of our rent.

A: If owner does not give you a deduction, then you could sue the owner for $340, but then the owner might terminate your lease or try to evict you. So try to work it out to avoid that.
